Script – “Wish”

I already had this idea for an animation I wanted to create. Its based on a true story inspired by my mum when she was a little girl.

Here is the script explaining what happens in the frame and the camera changes that are throughout the animation.

Script – “Wish”

by Tabbie Marshall

  • description in frame

    -camera change – Arial view

    – screen opens up to reveal a pastel pink background with the word “Wish” written with dandelion seeds, then a gust of wind blows the word away, all pretty like.

  • description in frame

    – the pastel pink background fades away to reveal a street with a row of shops establishing the location of the scene. You can see a mother and daughter walking along the shops stopping to look through the windows.

  • description in frame

    – camera change – focuses on daughter’s face

    – the daughter is looking bored. She turns her face to pan across the camera and suddenly her face lights up.

  • description in frame

    – camera change – reveals a field of dandelion seeds

    – the tallest dandelion is focused in the centre of the frame and the camera zooms into this singular stem.

  • description in frame

    – camera change – the camera is now at the back left of the stem.

    – the sound effect of quick footsteps starts getting louder and louder until the daughter is suddenly in frame bringing a gust of wind with her, strong enough to blow her hair and stem of the dandelion, but not strong enough to tear any of the seeds off. The daughter’s eyes widen even more and the camera slowly zooms to create suspense/excitement.

  • description in frame

    – camera change – close up of the stem

    – you see the daughters hand slowly and carefully picking the dandelion from the ground.

  • description in frame

-camera change – back to back left of stem

    – the daughter is holding the dandelion with both hands, her eyes are closed and her face is scrunched up emphasising that she is thinking about her wish. The daughter is taking in a deep breath, however because her mouth is so close to the dandelion the seeds get released from the stem and the enter her mouth and she starts to cough. After the daughter stops coughing she sticks her tongue out and picks a seed off her tongue. The daughter then has a grumpy expression. You can see the figure of the mother walking up behind her she reaches out her hand for the daughter to take. The daughter looks up at her mother still grumpy and takes her mothers hand and then looks back forward again. They walk off screen and the screen turns back to the pastel pink roll end credits.
